SCARCE OLD REPORT!! LARGE MAPS!!
This is USGS Bulletin 1026,
Geology of the Bighorn Canyon-Hardin Area, Montana and Wyoming
. Published in 1955, there can't be many of these around. This large publication consists of a 93-page book and ALL EIGHT OF THE ORIGINAL MAPS, two of which are large color maps.
This area exposes about 9000 feet of sedimentary rocks ranging in age from Cambrian to Cretaceous. All the formations are well described. The area covered by the report is approximately 1800 square miles, is noted for its oil and gas resources, and is also host to significant gypsum deposits. One of the cross sections (shown in pictures) notes areas where large cavities lined with calcite crystals were encountered.
