SCARCE VINTAGE ITEM!!
This is USGS
Bulletin 974-E, The Eastern Front of the Bitterroot Range, Montana.
Published in about 1952 there can’t be many of these around anymore. It consists of the 41-page book and
the original
full color map of the Bitterroot valley.
This is a really interesting work that reports on research that resolved a long-standing debate about the rocks of the eastern front of the Idaho Batholith. It makes for interesting reading and the conclusion is quite profound. The area of the map surrounds Hamilton, Montana, although the map area extends into parts of eastern Idaho. In all about 33 miles of the Bitterroot Valley and adjacent ranges are shown. The original full color map
This is a scarce item of great scope and regional interest and would make a great addition to any library on Montana geology, or general geology for that matter. Or frame the beautiful map - It would look great in a home or business in the area. Would make a great gift to the right person.

SCARCE OLD VINTAGE!! ONLY ONE AVAILABLE!! ONLY ONE I'VE EVER HAD!!
This is the classic Geological Survey of Ohio Bulletin 25,
Pottsville Fauna of Ohio
. Originally published in 1922, this is the 1966 reprint, which used better paper and materials. This book contains 274 pages of text plus 16 additional plates of photos showing scores of good examples of the fossils from this prolific area.
To give an idea of the importance of this area I've included a photo of the introduction of the book. The Pottsville formation has thirteen fossil bearing horizons. Fossils were collected at 93 localities and 200 species were identified, some of which were new to science. The photos are superb and the examples they had to work with represent a great deal of field collecting time and preparation effort. The result is this classic work, still relevant as the formations never change. This is the definitive work on the Pottsville formation.
All in all this is a rare publication that would make a great addition to your personal collection. Should be of interest to fossil collectors, enthusiasts, students, or anyone interested in a fascinating part of their state.
Expert packing assured. Weighs over a pound. Shipping weight is two pounds. The recent increase in postage rates was pretty big. As a result, Media Mail is now my default shipping method to keep shipping affordable.
