This is
USGS Circular 607, Platinum and Associated Elements at the New Rambler Mine and Vicinity, Albany and Carbon Counties, Wyoming.
Published in 1968, this 14-page booklet has become a pretty hot item lately with platinum prices so high. This book describes the New Rambler deposit and surrounding geology and also focuses on nearby soil geochemistry as a means to locate more such deposits. The results are encouraging! This is a complex deposit that contains platinum, gold, palladium, and copper, in addition to small amounts of other metals such as iridium and osmium. The number of minerals recorded for this area is fairly substantial, as shown by this list taken from Mindat.org:
Albite
Atacamite
Azurite
Barite
Biotite
Bornite
Chalcanthite
'Chalcedony'
Chalcocite
Chalcopyrite
'Chlorite Group'
Chrysocolla
Clinozoisite
Copper
Covellite
Cuprite var: Chalcotrichite
Epidote
Hematite
'Hornblende'
'Limonite'
Lorandite
Mackinawite
Magnetite
Malachite
Michenerite
Oosterboschite
Orpiment
Pentlandite
Pyrite
Pyrrhotite
Quartz
Realgar
'Sericite'
Sperrylite
Sphalerite
Temagamite
Tenorite
Tetrahedrite
(The minerals above are not necessarily mentioned in the text, but are provided to illustrate the mineralogical richness of this area.)
This publication is an important reference on this platinum-rich area.
BONUS: For a limited time I am adding this nice item:
USGS Circular 930-E, International Strategic Minerals Inventory Summary Report – Platinum-Group Metals
. Published in 1986, this 34-page book offers a comprehensive look at platinum-group metal resources worldwide, with details on occurrences and mines all over the world. The platinum group metals include platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, osmium, ad rhenium. This is an interesting report – The blurb on the cover says “Prepared as a cooperative effort among earth-science and mineral-resource agencies of Australia, Canada, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.” It is a great look at the geology and occurrence of the platinum group metals and a offers an overview of resources and production as well. This is an uncommon item I have never offered before and with platinum prices so high there is more interest in this metal than ever before. It is in great condition with essentially no flaws to report.
I will continue to add new items to my store, so check back periodically.

COEUR D'ALENE DISTRICT!!
This is USGS Bulletin 1142-A,
Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Twin Crags Quadrangle, Idaho.
Published in 1963, there can't be many of these around. This publication consists of a 33-page book and both of the original maps, one of which is a
nice full color map
. This is an interesting area with several mines and some varied geology as well. Mines in this area were for lead, zinc, copper, and antimony. This area is a subzone of the Coeur d'Alene district. Mines discussed in the text include:
Palisade Mine
(This mine is shown in detail on on of the large maps)
International Mine
K.C. Prospect
Patricia #1 Prospect
Tiberius Prospect
Great Dunker Prospect
Bluebird Prospect
Minerals I saw mentioned in the text include:
Sphalerite
Galena
Stibnite
Pyrite
Siderite
Quartz
Pyrrhotite
Chalcopyrite
Barite
Some of the mine areas have several separate areas of workings. This is an interesting area with some cool old mines, and this publication would make a great guide to it. This is a scarce and desirable item of interest to any mineral collector, historian, or local resident.
Expert packing assured. The recent increase in postage rates was pretty big. As a result, Media Mail is now my default shipping method to keep shipping affordable.
