NOT MANY LEFT!!!
This is a scarce South Dakota pegmatite publication,
Diamond-drilling Exploration of the Beecher No. 3-Black Diamond Pegmatite,
Custer County, South Dakota
. This is USGS Bulletin 1162-E. Published in 1963,
there can't be many of these around. This is another of the mineralogically
significant pegmatites of this famous area. It sports a pretty good list of
desirable minerals, including:
Albite
Amblygonite
Andalusite
Beryl
Cassiterite
Columbite-Tantalite
Elbaite
Fluorapatite
Lepidolite
Microcline
Muscovite
Pyrrhotite
Quartz
Schorl
Spodumene,
variety: Kunzite
Staurolite
This
publication consists of the 11-page book and the original huge 25x50 inch map
showing the structure of the pegmatite, its location, and numerous
cross-section interpreted from the diamond-drilling project. The text
describes the zonation of the deposit, the occurrence of beryl and spodumene
within it, and the structure of the pegmatite at depth. The structure is fairly
complex and is quite interesting, as the detailed cross-sections make clear.
All in all a scarce a desirable addition to any library on pegmatites or Black
Hills mineralogy.
I will
continue to add new items to my store, so check back periodically.
